Memento Mori

“Memento Mori” is a Latin phrase meaning “remember that you will die.” It sounds sad, but it was actually intended to be a motivating phrase - you never know howlong you have, so make the most of the present moment.

The idea behind “memento mori” has its roots in the philosophers of classical antiquity, and symbolism of skulls harkening back to the phrase later became popular in medieval Christian artwork.
