THE HARPY

The harpies are mythical monsters from Greek mythology. They were said to use their powerful talons to steal evil-doers from the earth and deposit them in Tartarus, a prison in the Underworld. Indeed, the ancient greek word for harpy, which is written on this painting, means “I snatch”.
